A Perfect Saturday in St. Petersburg: No Vacation Required

There is a particular danger to living in St. Petersburg.

You can become completely spoiled.

What other people plan as a vacation itinerary can very easily become your Saturday.

Start with coffee and the St. Pete Saturday Morning Market, where the season is now underway every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fresh produce, prepared foods, local artists, crafts and live music make it as much a gathering place as a market. Visit St Petersburg Clearwater Florida

Then don’t rush.

That’s part of the point.

Walk downtown. Browse a shop you haven’t noticed before. Head toward the waterfront. Stop for lunch outside because—well—we live in Florida and we can.

Add a little culture

You could easily spend the afternoon inside one of St. Petersburg’s museums.

Or skip the walls entirely.

St. Pete’s murals have turned whole sections of the city into an outdoor gallery. SHINE mural tours continue on selected Sundays through December, but you don’t need a formal tour to start spotting the artwork as you move through town. Visit St Petersburg Clearwater Florida

One of my favorite things about St. Petersburg is that art doesn’t always wait politely inside a museum.

Sometimes it’s 40 feet tall and painted on the side of a building.

Walk the waterfront

Eventually, make your way toward the Pier.

Walk.

Sit.

People-watch.

Look at the boats.

Have a drink.

Take the obligatory picture of the water even though your phone already contains approximately 4,000 sunset photographs.

We Floridians apparently believe every sunset deserves its own documentation.

And then…don’t leave

That’s the difference between visiting somewhere and living somewhere.

You don’t have to cram everything into one day.

Didn’t make it to the museum?

Go next Saturday.

Didn’t try that restaurant?

It’s still there Tuesday.

Didn’t catch the sunset?

There will probably be another one tomorrow.

Manuela’s Take

When people relocate, they naturally compare houses.

I like to compare Saturdays.

What would you actually enjoy doing on an ordinary weekend?

Would you like to walk somewhere for coffee?

Be near museums?

Have restaurants nearby?

Spend time on the water?

Prefer a quiet neighborhood where downtown is only a short drive away?

Those answers often tell me more about where someone might enjoy living than a list of house features.

The Global Lifestyle Bottom Line

A great place to live isn’t simply somewhere with beautiful homes.

It’s somewhere you still want to explore after the moving boxes are gone.

St. Petersburg makes that remarkably easy.

Live Tampa Bay. Because finding the right home starts with finding the life you want to live.
