One of the things I enjoy about our cultural scene is the variety.
You can spend one afternoon looking at internationally recognized art and the next discovering a tiny gallery or local maker.
And because so much of our arts community lives near restaurants, parks and waterfront areas, culture doesn’t feel like a separate activity.
It becomes part of the neighborhood.
Creativity changes a place
Art districts do something interesting to cities.
They bring people out.
Old buildings gain new purposes.
Restaurants appear.
Small businesses follow.
People walk instead of drive from one stop to another.
The neighborhood develops a personality.
And from a real estate perspective, that personality matters.
Not everyone wants the same thing.
Some people want absolute quiet.
Others want to step outside and feel that something is happening.
Neither is better.
They’re simply different lifestyles.

One of the wonderful things about Tampa Bay is that we don’t have to choose between outdoor living and culture.
You can visit a museum in the afternoon and watch the sun disappear over the water that evening.
That’s a rather nice combination.
When I work with people relocating here, I want them to discover these layers.
You shouldn’t only know what your house looks like.
You should know what your life around the house could look like.
